Lake Zell

Due to its crystal clear water, with drinking water quality) and the unique location under the snow-covered glacier of the Kitzsteinhorn, the Zellersee is one of the most beautiful lakes in Austria. Especially in summer, the Zellersee is the center of the region around

  • Zell am See,
  • Kaprun,
  • Bruck on the Grossglockner Road
  • and other surrounding communities.

The lake was formed about 10,000 to 16,000 years ago by an excavation created by ice masses. The current area of the lake is only a remnant of the original water surface, with a surface area of 4.5 km2.

In summer, the lake warms up to about 23 degrees and therefore offers a pleasant water temperature not only for water sports enthusiasts, but also for sun worshippers and those who like warmer water.

Sailors and surfers love to use the winds for sporting activities, especially towards evening.

Beaches with

  • and children’s playgrounds invite with large lawns.

Fishermen can try their luck from the lakeshore or from a boat with a little luck.
