In St. Georgen you will find a free ice skating rink next to the elementary school when the weather conditions are suitable.

In particularly cold winters, Lake Zell also freezes over and becomes a unique ice skating paradise. The lake offers a huge ice surface on which you can best enjoy the surrounding spectacular mountains and our wonderful nature.

Cross country skiing

Best prepared trails & lots of variety
It is a beautiful day. The snow glistens and the sun shines in your face as you make your rounds on the cross-country ski trail.

Where hikers and cyclists move in summer, cross-country skiers glide through snowy winter landscapes in winter.

The region has perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails with connection to the approx. 200 km long Pinzga trail and the Fischhorn trail (4.4 km). After dusk, grab your cross-country skis and make your laps in a romantic atmosphere while admiring the clear starry sky.

With the starting point at the municipality of Fusch, the trail leads you to the Ponyhof and back.
In total you can look forward to 5km of cross-country skiing enjoyment.For variety with special snow safety, the high-altitude trails in Mittersill – Pass Thurn and

Hochfilzen. The Mittersiller Hochmoorloipe is located at 1,250 m above sea level, is 22 km long and offers a

fantastic view over the Hohe Tauern National Park.

On them you will roam magical winter landscapes and climb to idyllically situated alpine pastures and panoramic peaks. They allow insights into the dreamlike winter world and at the same time get the whole body going.

On snowshoes it goes almost effortlessly through the deep snow and you will quickly learn to appreciate the great advantage: snowshoes let you dive deep into nature even where you would sink in the high snow with normal shoes.

The winter hiking trails on the nearby Schmittenhöhe lead at around 2,000 meters above sea level along

of the ridge and offer a magnificent view of the snow-covered mountain peaks of the Hohe Tauern and Kalkhochalpen.
